The Nyambaria School was established in 1966 as a Seventh-day Adventist secondary school in what is now Nyamira County. What began as a modest institution has, over more than five decades, grown into a fully-fledged national school — a status that reflects sustained academic performance, expanded infrastructure, and a widening reputation that now draws learners from every county in Kenya.
Over the years, the school has steadily expanded its campus to the 21 classrooms and 14 boarding dormitories it operates today, allowing it to admit over 2,200 learners while maintaining the disciplined, close-knit learning environment that has always defined Nyambaria. The school's elevation to national status opened its doors to Form 1 admission through the Ministry of Education's NEMIS placement system, cementing its place among Kenya's leading secondary schools.
That long history of steady growth culminated in the school's proudest academic milestone to date — emerging Kenya One in the 2022 KCSE examinations, an achievement that placed Nyambaria firmly among the very best secondary schools in the country.
